Charity

In 2007 I attempted to get some money from Old Jim Days to really end up in a charity. In past years I told people that any profits would be donated to charity. The experience is that is costs more to put on OJD than I collect. Despite appearances, I am not rich nor do I have a lot of money.

For 2007 I announced that $10 from each ticket would be taken off the top to go to charity. There were about 350 tickets sold or provided to bands etc. The result is that $3500 will be donated to the charities I selected.

What did not change was that the cost of the party still exceeded the money collected. About 2 months after OJD 2007 I paid $500 each to two charities. The Chris Messier Childrens Education Fund and the Louis Cecere Memorial Scholarship Fund. This leaves $2500 remaining to be paid to these 2 charities.

It was hoped the 2008 party would generate money to pay a significant part of the remaining money, but because of the problems with the Town of Hudson 2008 lost money again.

I will update this page any time additional money is paid to these charities. Hopefully I will figure out a way to do so without taking out a loan and still be able to pay my mortgage. I'm hope the 2 charities appreciate what they have received and restate my intention to complete payments, even if from my estate.

Bands

Work needs to be done to finalize the line up, but it goes something like this.

  • Friday - Old Number 7 Band, one of the local favorite. Love these guys!
  • Saturday Afternoon - Open Mic.
  • Saturday Evening - New this year Liquid Fever will play their original music - no cover songs around 6. They are a high energy, great band.
  • Saturday Night - Pink Floyd's unbelievable rock opera 'The Wall' will be produced as a multi media extravaganza with live music played by Liquid Fever, video, lighting effects, and actors.
  • Sunday Noon - Project Mess will kick off Sunday's music with a two hour set including the traditional Pink Floyd 'Time' at noon (as loud as they can crank it).
  • Sunday Afternoon - Nooka and Wonderman are Peter and Steve Noel who will finish the weekend and be joined at the end by anyone wanting to join in. They are the perfect band to bring this weekend back down to a pace we can all live with.

Sound and instruments will be set up for the musicians amoung us to jam between bands. My favorite time last year was the jammin between 2am and 5am when all the rain came down.

Food

We are probably going to roast a pig for Friday night and Saturday afternoon. We can't let Tom Brown's custom smoker sit idle.

French fries will flow almost continuously using the gas fired fryolator from the best Rock and Roll bar in southern NH, Johnny's Pizzeria Bar and Grill
